Terms of Service

The agreement between CircleUp and the schools, colleges, parents, teachers and students who use it. We've tried to keep it readable.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and CircleUp (“we”, “us”) when you access or use the CircleUp app, websites or related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Accounts and eligibility

CircleUp is designed for use by schools, colleges and their communities — parents, teachers, students and administrators. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, to create an account on your own.

You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up and to keep your credentials confidential.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten or impersonate another person.
  • Post unlawful, deceptive, hateful or sexually explicit content.
  • Disclose personal information about students without authorisation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, server or data.
  • Interfere with the operation of the Service, including via automated scraping.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service — messages, announcements, homework, portfolios, comments and so on (“Your Content”).

By submitting Your Content, you grant CircleUp a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and transmit it solely for the purpose of operating the Service for your community.

5. Privacy and student data

We take student privacy seriously. CircleUp does not sell personal data and does not show advertising. Student data is scoped per role.

CircleUp is designed to comply with India's DPDP Act 2023, US COPPA, and EU GDPR. Verifiable parental consent is strictly required for minors under 18.

For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Institution accounts and administrators

Where an institution sets up a CircleUp account, its administrators manage membership, roles and policies in line with their code of conduct.

7. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CircleUp disclaims all warranties — express or implied.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CircleUp will not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages. Total liability is limited to amounts paid in the preceding 12 months or USD 100.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes are notified in advance. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
